I forgot to tell you why I hate FedEx

Posted on August 4, 2006May 1, 2018 by kadmin

Package delivery. It is the way of the future. As the internet becomes the world’s marketplace, reliable package delivery is key.

In my mind, UPS has this wrapped up. They have a great system. Everything is electronically scanned and tracked. They bring your package on time. They don’t lose it. Simple. Excellent.

FedEx is quite the opposite. They still collect manual signatures (pen and paper) in many cases and they have NO accomodations for people who do not work from home. They lost my package for a week and I have to drive 30 miles to get it. That is why I hate them.

As usual, I sent them a sternly worded email:

Comments: I’m trying to get a package and your service is VERY frustrating. You should be more like UPS.

Problem 1: Your driver couldn’t stick the first delivery notice to my door – I found it 2 days later in the bushes.

Problem 2: I called to have my package held so that I could pick it up AND YOU DIDN’T HOLD IT!!!! That is TERRIBLE service.

Problem 3: I called this morning to see if I could pick it up this evening and I was told that would not be a problem. I gave my number for a call back. I got no call back.

Problem 4: I called again since I didn’t hear from anyone and now you say the package is still on the truck (where it never should have been) and I can’t have it until tomorrow.

Problem 5: I have to go way the hell out by the airport to pickup the package. I don’t live near the airport. It would make sense if I could pick it up at my local Kinkos.

Problem 6: You won’t let me re-direct the package to my work address so that I can be there to sign for it. UPS lets me do that.

Problem 7: You refuse to leave the package at my house inside of a locked gate because I’m not there to sign for it. UPS would leave it for me.

Problem 8: I don’t have my package and it is your fault.

They Responded:

We received your email. Thank you for providing the necessary information to follow up this incident.

We have advised FedEx management/assigned station or terminal of what happened and requested that they give you a call for updates as well as if they would be needing additional information to resolve this issue.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation on this matter.

FedEx Customer Service

A few days later, I found out that the package had actually been waiting for me at the station out by the airport the whole time but no one had looked for it. The system said it was on the truck.

I now boycott FedEx. If an online merchant offers no other shipping choice, I just won’t buy from them.

You’ll find FedEx on my Dead to Me list.
